East Bergholt Neighbourhood Plan

In April we told you the East Bergholt Neighbourhood Plan Committee had been reformed to update our Plan. We also informed you Babergh District Council was working with Mid-Suffolk District Council to produce a new Joint Local Plan. In planning terms, the most up-to-date Plan is given greater weight, making it important Babergh’s Plan reflects your views as expressed in our Neighbourhood Plan.

It is now time to make your views known to Babergh.

The draft Joint Local Plan has now been published for consultation. Use this link to download a copy of the draft Plan.

Comments need to be submitted before the end of September.

The Neighbourhood Plan Committee will be reviewing this document and feeding back their comments. Help would be most welcome. Contact the Committee if you are able to offer your help.

Since April, the Neighbourhood Plan Committee have been busy re-visiting the housing needs, design criteria and seeking grants to cover the cost of specialist services. The Neighbourhood Plan remains an important document; enabling the East Bergholt residents to influence future village developments.

We would really like you to become involved. Come along to one of the monthly meetings and have your say. You will be made most welcome. The dates are published on here and on the Parish Council notice boards.

Also, do not forget to submit your comments on Babergh’s draft Joint Local Plan.

Use it or lose it!

Suffolk County Council (SCC) are withdrawing bus subsidies at the end of September. This means a number of services will disappear and East Bergholt will wave goodbye to the 796 and 94A.

This comes on top of SCC withdrawing free bus passes for new students at East Bergholt High School. Consequently, even more cars will enter the village daily.

There is a faint chance that there may be a last minute review where passenger numbers increase. Please look on line at the timetables and 'spread the word'.

Suffolk County Council Highways - Reporting Problems

Two Parish Councillors recently visited the local Suffolk County Council Highways Service Delivery Centre. The Highways Officers advised our Councillors that the most effective way of reporting any Highways issues is via the County Council's online reporting tool. Any problem will then be picked up and allocated a reference number. The issue will be looked at by an appropriate member of the Highways Team, prioritised, the area will be inspected if considered necessary, and a solution to any required work will be allocated, if considered appropriate.
