David Wilson Homes, who are building the 144 houses at Moores Lane, East Bergholt, have written to the Parish Council to tell us that they will begin archeological works on the Moores Lane site. They write:
“ On Monday 6th February, previous archaeological trial trenching work will resume at the site as part of the planning process for David Wilson Homes’ Section 73 planning application to improve the existing permission for new homes and commercial units. The work is expected to be complete within a period of ten days, weather permitting.
As part of this process, very shallow trenches of around 200mm to 400mm will be created and inspected by Suffolk County Council’s archaeologist. Once the inspection is complete, the subsoil and topsoil will be put neatly back in place so that the site remains tidy.
David Wilson Homes hope to receive a decision on their S73 planning application before the spring.

If the planning application is approved, they hope to begin the construction process on site by the Autumn 2023.“
The archeological work and S73 approvals are necessary steps they must complete before they can start building.
Suffolk County Council Highways - Reporting Problems
Two Parish Councillors recently visited the local Suffolk County Council Highways Service Delivery Centre. The Highways Officers advised our Councillors that the most effective way of reporting any Highways issues is via the County Council's online reporting tool. Any problem will then be picked up and allocated a reference number. The issue will be looked at by an appropriate member of the Highways Team, prioritised, the area will be inspected if considered necessary, and a solution to any required work will be allocated, if considered appropriate.
